[jadmin] DNS SRV and SSL

my website is hosted at http://example.com on server-A
i want to install jabberd2 on server-B. fqdn for server-B is im.example.com

so i think i need DNS SRV, bcos i want my jid as user at example.com and not user at im.example.com

i am generating my own SSL cert with:
# openssl req -new -x509 -newkey rsa:1024 -days 3650 -keyout privkey.pem -out server.pem

question:
i read the doco at http://www.jabberdoc.org/app_sslkey.html and there's a note that says:
N Note: Common Name 
Note that you should enter your FQDN as the Common Name for your certificate. 


now, do i enter im.example.com or just example.com ?

pls advise.
